The place had bed bugs, bad! Had to change rooms at 4 am because the beds were covered in them, disgusting!! Other than that, which is worse than anything, it 'looked' clean and stuff was nice.
Great facility, location, cleanliness, décor and the best breakfast provided at a hotel as complimentary. Literally nothing bad about this place that can be controlled. There was a large crowd present for an event, which just made lines longer and service slower (service was still great and the lines were still good).
Great price. Had everything we needed. The staff we very efficient and friendly. Included breakfast was great!! N/A
Comfortable bed and dark shades The staff was unprofesional. The facilitities were dirty. The hotel is more like a motel with the Holiday Inn Logo in it.
The staff are super friendly and helpful
The hotel room was dirty and had torn curtains. The room needed updating.
I reserved a non smoking room, however, there were none available so I was stuck in a smoking room. I have severe allergies, and turning on the heater really stired my allergies up and made my stay very uncomfortable. I will never stay there again.
The woman at the recepcion was wonderful with informations about the city !
breakfast was excellent staff had trouble speaking and understanding english language.was within walking distance to everything to do sacremento...... big bins in alley being emptyed early every morning
Proximity to downtown and Old Sacramento is good, plenty of bars and small bistros in local area. Cheap, clean, free continental breakfast - ideal for weekend trip.
The bed was comfortable. Great location. The breakfast food was good too. Where do I start? First receptionist was cold, she could of been more welcoming and smile! The blow dryer did not work in the room. We had a "do not disturb" sign in door, but the maids entered anyways (which should not of been entered!) and took all the towels. We had to go ask for towels. Very noisy parking lot and some one spilled a drink from the balcony all over our car.
Clean, nice breakfast
everything is comfortable.
Amazing staff, accessability to so many places & Blues cluns - 1/2 block from The Torch Club. Killer water pressure in the shower & milti-head shower/massager. Huge bed for a queen-size. Full-size ironing board & iron in room. Continental breakfast leaves a bit to be desired, parking spots really tight - but at least they do offer off-street parking
The staff went out of their way to please, with friendly smiles and over-the-top courtesy.
Walking distance to many restaurants and bars. Quiet interior location. Unprofessional front desk staff needs training.
Wonderful room downtown with a great view. The restaurant that is attached is wonderful, and there are several others within walking distance. It is right across the street from the beautiful Capitol Park, and there is plenty to do in the area. It is even walking distance from Old Sacramento which is a great place to spend a day shopping and enjoying the old buildings and trains. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room cleaner in particular was especially helpful and knowledgeable of the area. The breakfast is standard, nothing too special, but it has a lot of choices. A/C only covered the back half of the room, which is fine when going to sleep, but kind of bad at keeping the entire room cold during the day or at an even temp since the thermostat is right under the ac vent.
I have always loved this building, and nice hotel rooms for less than $150/night are in short supply in downtown Sacramento. The Sterling gave us outstanding value for a spacious room with enormous Jacuzzi bathtub and beautiful four-poster bed in a gorgeous historic Victorian era home. Check in and check out experience efficient and pleasant, with flexibility on a little extra time for check out. I would definitely stay again and recommend to friends with caveats below. There is on the street parking but it is metered with a two-hour limit after 8am or before 6pm Mon-Sat, so you will get a parking ticket if you sleep in. The street gutter was filled with leaves, making it a little messy for shoes and luggage. There is a $16 city lot just a block away... But it is a block away. A valet service would be ideal. As other guests have commented, some room elements such as sinks are beginning to show signs of age, but they did not detract from the outstanding value of our room.
Clean quiet room for a good price in a good location. Nothing fancy. I liked it all
Very nice staff and location.......not perfect rooms but for the price was great!!!
The price Slightly ghetto
The hotel's location was great! There was stagnant water in the bowed bathtub, the bathroom itself was filthy overall. The carpet in front of the bathroom seemed like it was constantly wet for no reason. The parking lot had a intense repugnant odor for 2 of my 3 day stay.
A couple blocks away, there are nice things. I suppose that the price was tolerable for the area. but you get what you pay for. Old location. "Breakfast" was some dry cereal. Location is noisy, frequent panhandlers and loud crazy homeless people outside. Frequent car alarms. Bed was uncomfortable. Pillows were flat as can be. Air conditioner worked sporadically. Hot water took a while to flow. Old broken tube TV.
I love how the bed had a light on the bed frame. I love how on the outside it looks like a cheap hotel till you get into the bedroom and it looked really nice. And the bed was nice. And the hot shower felt awesome after a long day on the road. How small the rooms were. Just needed to be a little bit bigger but other then that I really liked it
It is relatively inexpensive. The bathroom was clean and everything in it worked well. The neighborhood is not great but not terrible. The police arrested someone in the parking lot. No alarm clock. The carpet is filthy. Some of the clientele is sketchy. A lot of noise at night - police cars, trains, people driving loud cars fast. The refrigerator made a loud and annoying noise every fifteen minutes or so and did not function properly.
It doesnt look like much on the outside, but inside was pretty nice for the price. The beds were comfortable, the shower was hot, the WiFi worked relatively well, we had a microwave and a mini fridge, and we walked in to a freshly-cleaned room every night. We were in town for WizCon, which was just a short walk up the main street, as was downtown Sacramento, which was fun to walk around. The staff was very friendly. They gave us coupons for Dominos pizza (right down the road),helped us with anything we needed, and when a car was coming for us 4 hours after check out time, they arranged for a safe place for us to keep our bags. Overall a great experience. The street that it is on is a bit noisy, but you get what you pay for. Our room smelled slightly of smoke, but it was something that went away quickly once we opened the window or turned on the air conditioner. The good far outweighed the bad-- a good price for the stay we had.
The hotel was dirty and and manager was rude. Not even worth the 63 dollars
The host was helpful in letting us use the phone to arrange a rental car and taxi at the end of our stay. It is a gamble how great your stay here will be. My room was as expected but one of my traveling companions did not have as good of luck. Her first room was not cleaned (someone had been very sick inside!) so she asked for another: the front door on her second room did not lock (this was particularly disturbing as it was on the ground floor and there are many vagrants in the area); her 3rd room was better than the other 2 but still smelled heavily of cigarette smoke despite the fact that it was non-smoking. You can try your luck!
Communicating w the front desk. Very rude
This place was dirty. It's one thing to have cob webs in the room (though not acceptable), but it's another thing when the cob webs are in the shower. Clearly hadn't been cleaned. The handle on the leaky faucet was broke, and there was some trash on the floor near the heater when I walked in.
