Located right in the Loop of Chicago, this hotel is only 2 blocks from the Blue Line train from the airport. Free WiFi if you are a Kimpton Rewards member (or if you sign up during your stay). Free wine social hour every night from 5-6pm. You also get a minibar credit if you are a rewards member before you check in. The front entrance was a little odd - the lobby is up on the floor above and not well marked. The view out the window in my room was a brick wall.
The 5:00 PM wine hour and the interesting decor. Most of the furniture in the lobby was cool looking but not comfortable to sit on.
I arrived early morning and was so glad to be checked in and didn't have to wait until mid afternoon. The cleanliness of the hotel was great. The staff was most accommodating. The on site restaurants were very good.
Some may not like the smaller rooms (especially baths) but this is a very nice boutique hotel. They have done an excellent job of refurbishing a grand old building and the ambience captures the imagination. We loved it and would stay again for the good rate we got through booking.com No coffee machines and no coffee in lobby, but a coffee shop on the corner that was open at 5am.
location (1) the fact we provided them a different credit card to charge my bill and they said they were good and then I get my statement and they charged the original card after they said it wouldn't be charged. (2) the lines to check out were long and it took us over 20 minutes to just check out. (3) we were not made aware of the wine hour when everyone else we spoke to was. Overall experience was not the best and the purpose of our visit was to find location venues for an upcominng tradeshow - I think if we would have made them aware we would have been treated much better.

I like the location the best. Breakfast was ok but maybe offer more choices. Room had a mold smell and door locks were very loud when closing.
Having managed a hotel myself previously, I was pleased with how friendly, helpful, and quick the staff were in their attention to guests. Very clean and welcoming.
Free breakfast in the morning. The eggs were questionable though. My toilet didn't work.

Great staff, good location. Restaurant is wonderful. Small room, older hotel/rooms, bed not so comfortable, no in room eats other than water/coffee. Definitely over priced.
Great location, nice room, beautiful bathroom, comfortable beds, steps from the orange line, State St. and Michigan Ave., Theatres, and museums. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Great rice view. Libby music was a bit loud, but the younger crow probably would think that was great!
ALL staff that we incountered from valet to bellman house keeping and front desk were all very friendly and helpful. Having worked in the hotel industry it was easy to spot a top notch beautiful hotel with an amazing staff. Toilet was loose or unattached to the bathroom floor but still functioned properly.
We stayed here with our two older children (age 16 & 20) over July 4 weekend; an incredibly busy weekend for the city but this was an oasis of luxury. Recently renovated, hotel features a beautiful artistic lobby, excellent coffee/sandwich bar in lobby, lounging areas with couches, restaurant, bar. Rooms are deluxe, very comfortable beds, modern bathrooms, with gorgeous views of the city and nearby Chicago river.
Location, bedding, room decor. Wasn't notified of renovations by kayak nor Marriott, when I told the front desk this, I was told I should do my own research to make sure hotel isn't being renovated. Then the workers started a half hour earlier than I was told on Sunday morning, and when I called the front desk, nothing was done about it. They were constantly drilling directly above our room. I was given the wrong room and wasn't offered a switch when the correct room became available, and I left an item there after checking out and called two hours later and the item had gone missing from the room. When I called the customer care line, the hotel called back to apologize and did not offer anything to rectify the situation. Terrible stay, will not be booking there ever again.
We like the intimacy of the hotel. The staff made us feel welcome. The location is walking distance from theaters, shopping, lake front. Parking is very expensive: tip - 3 blocks west of the hotel is public parking lot and we paid $15 for the whole weekend.
The building, itself, is a renovated office building across from Macy's on State St. The location is ideal for sight seeing in the Loop. It's unique. A lot of art deco trim. It's nicely decorated, the staff is pleasant. They serve complimentary wine at 5 p.m. It's boutique hotel, not a monster one. The rooms are small.
Staff were amazing! They took care of all the details with great courtesy. The room was beautiful, the bed was super comfortable and everything was very clean. The Atwood Cafe food was delicious, and they modified reservations for us without a fuss. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to family and friends.
Desk staff quite friendly and helpful. Everything classy and elegant. Umbrella iin closet was a nice tough. Didn't patronize the Atrwood? Restaurant although attractive ambience, Prices were prohibitive. Cup of cofffee: #$4.00, Eggs bENEDICT: $15.00 Fugget about it.

Loved all the old architectural features. The rooms were small but the architecture, view, location and excellent air conditioning made up for the size. My suggestion is to add a quiet seating area near the stairs and elevators on each floor so that guests that awaken early can read and have coffee while a child or partner sleeps. Joan
Warm, accommodating staff. Great location. Quaint, historic building. The hotel was more than adequate for our needs, but guests should not expect huge rooms.
I had an excellent room with a view of both State and Washington Streets and Millenium Park!

Staff was very friendly and very helpful. Rooms were clean and very nice. Only complaint was elevator on Sunday morning. Most people are trying to leave and the maid staff had most cars filled with there carts. Maybe staging a cart on every floor would help that congestion. Otherwise it was a great place to stay.
I liked the location and the quite comfort of the room. I liked the variety of contents in the minibar, even though I didn't actually eat but one thing. My room was a little noisy, but I just wore earplugs and that worked out for the most part.

The overall experience was great - facilities, location and staff were wonderful The corner lounge was strange in terms of food offerings, everyone shows up for breakfast expecting to find dry cereal, bananas or a pop tart. Get rid of the candy and party mix and offer a minimal continental breakfast.

Room was nice, roomy bathroom, clean. Good location. The staff was nice. Roof top bar was enjoyable with good food and drinks. Price to keep the car over night was expensive.
Loved the staff at the Hyatt! They were amazingly helpful, especially Ariana who was there no matter what we needed. From the valets to the housekeepers they were so wonderful. The business center was very helpful and the latte's were delicious. The room was really quite loud. The air conditioner would kick on and wake me up several times a night. We were also close to the elevator (which I know is unavoidable) and could hear word for word the conversations in the hallway. This made for a rough night's sleep.
The staff was awesome being able to get some obscure requests. The bed and pillows weren't very comfortable. And there weren't that many amenities.
Great location--close to everything we needed. Super friendly, helpful staff. Very comfortable accommodations. The bathroom was poorly separated from the bedroom. With a gap above the hanging door to the bathroom area and a much bigger gap above the glass door that made up the toilet room, it was almost like we were in there together. Not very romantic.
Loved the breakfast, definitely eat it! Great location to everything in the city. Room was comfortable and whole place was very clean. The lobby set-up. It's too small to handle a large crowd, especially if more than five are waiting to check-in.
I travel to Chicago several times a year and I have to stay this was the best hotel I've ever stayed at. It is modern, clean, quiet and very centrally located. The most impressive thing is the staff. Everyone (from the front desk, to the cleaning ladies, etc.) is extremely helpful, polite (always say "hi"), ... I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone!
