The check in process was pretty average, but with unfriendly front desk attendants. The hallway was dirty on the floor that I was staying on...both trash on floor and carpet was dirty. Great location and good price, but below my expectations and below what I have experienced at other Marriott properties.
My wife and I spent 5 days there to celebrate our anniversary?our first visit to ?the big apple?. The rooms were a little small, but were very clean and well furnished. The staff was friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the hot complimentary breakfast, but be warned, they get very busy from about 9:00 to 10:00 AM. Be there before 8:30 and you are fine. The location was excellent for us, within walking distance of Bryant Park, the Rockefeller Center, many Broadway Theaters, ABC and NBC studios?even Central Park if you don?t mind a couple mile walk. We totally enjoyed our stay?will stay there again if we return.
We stayed here in August to celebrate our daughters 13th birthday. We are a family of four, my husband, 13 year old daughter, 9 year old son and myself. The hotel staff was so welcoming and helpful in every way. We arrived a few hours ahead of check in time, but they allowed us to check in early. I had requested a couple of treats to be in our room when we checked in. They didnt have them available at check in, but the treats were in our room when we returned from the broadway show, along with a balloon bouquet and a birthday card for our daughter! Anything we needed or asked for during our 4 day stay was taken care of with a smile! The rooms are very spacious and clean. The kitchen is quite attractive and very useful for keeping snacks and drinks. The hot complimentary breakfast was good, we often took our plates of food back to our rooms and reheated our breakfasts as we each got showered and realy for our day. The hotel is in a great location. An easy walk in one direction...
Clean, spacious and very nice room, close to Times Square. Complimentary breakfast and afternoon light dinner was a plus. Would recommend, and visit again.
While the decor, aesthetics, and general reception are great, the customer service and professionalism from the front desk is completely sub-par and below standard for any hotel within this price per night range. I was completely taken by surprise and frankly, shocked when I realized minor construction on a door lock was going on in the room next to mine. Apparently, management thought it a good business idea to begin the deconstruction and removal of the lock with the requisite banging, clanging, kicks and other associated noises at 9:30 pm!! When I called the front desk to complain, the female rep advised that she didn't know when it was going to finish but that it would continue--completely uncaring that after taking two separate airplane rides to get to NY, encompassing a total of 15 hours, one flight from a recovering war zone no less, all I want to do is sleep and rest in order to be somewhat recovered from passing two continents and three time zones and to be prepared for a me...
This was a great value for Manhattan. It was within walking distance of Times Square, Central Park, and many other popular New York hot spots. The staff was very friendly & helpful. When we arrived, there was only 1 operation elevator & the staff went out of their way to make sure people didn't have to wait too long for the elevator. The complimentary buffet breakfast was excellent - great if you have a family! The rooms were quite large (with a full kitchen) and the beds were extra comfortable. My husband and I would definitely stay here again.
Our stay at Residence Inn was actually better than expected. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Even the maintenance staff always said hello and had a smile. The breakfast was good and they even provided a light supper which our family took advantage of. We would definanty return. P.S. Our City View rooms on the 27 floor had an outstanding view.
We stayed in a large clean studio room for just two nights. It was a good experience but the room wasn't as large as I thought it would be. For example, when the sofa bed is pulled out there isn't any room to walk between it and the full/queen bed in the room. The pull out couch bed was as uncomfortable as we expected it would be, but after our long NY city days, we didn't care. Breakfast was plentiful in options, but so packed with people one of us had to stand to eat. Get there early I guess! Elevators were just as bad; the general advice was to go up to get down. Clean room. Prompt service. We'd stay again.
Excellent TImes Square location for weekend stay .
I have stayed in quite a few NYC hotels. The room was magnificent! The breakfast and gathering area was beautiful and the staff was so friendly and accomodating!
We stayed here, of all times, through New Year's Eve, and it was a very wise choice! \n\nThe room had a full kitchenette with microwave, full size refrigerator, toaster, dishes, etc. It was really convenient to be able to go to the corner store and buy midnight snacks or breakfast for the next day.\n\nThe front desk staff was very matter of fact. They weren't overly friendly (it is NYC, lots of people, not everyone will be gushy!). There wasn't a bellman that we saw -- which we liked because we can wheel our own suitcases, not a big deal. There typically was a security guard near the door and you have to use your room key to get to the upper floors. \n\nI would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends!
The hotel was very clean and had all the conveniences. Bed and bedding was great. Close to Times Square and our room had a spectacular view of the Empire State Bldg. Caution: If you have a vehicle, parking cost almost 25% of of nightly stay.
The staff is very kind and familiar. The breakfast is complete, well prepared and permited us to visit early the city.
It was a small quick little hotel located right near Time Square. While the room is about 2/3 or 1/2 the size of a typical room, the price and location makes it ideal for those that don't tend to spend much time at their hotel, but want to be located close to Time Square and the subway. The hotel staff was very attentive and nice to deal with. It has a really small room and there is no refrigerator to put our drinks, but since we only stayed one night, that was too problematic.
The staff was extremely friendly, they made us feel like customers and friends at the same time, a little bit like staying with the family but always very professional. Whenever we needed something everybody did everything and always with a smile. We will definitely choose this hotel again. The breakfast was excellent, the location is also very good.
i arrived the hotel at ten and didnt have to wait until 15 for ckeck in, they gave me a room and did everything very very quickly..that was a great start. I went with my ten year old daughter and found the hotel couldnt be better for our stay. Breakfeast was perfect! location too...we walked everywhere...times square...rockerfeller center...central park..Moma..!! even build a bear and american girl...!! we had places open 24hs to buy something to eat or drink...free wifi ..and had a place with two computers in case you dont have your own! room ok too!!! clean ..small as all rooms in NY. ,but you only use it to sleep !!! they kept my luggage after i did my checkout!.. couldnt have chosen a better hotel for my stay with my daughter.
Staff were Friendly, Location was perfect
the location is very good! The Hotel staff isn't helpfull. They charged two days more even though I've left two days early. And they recived a packege for me after I checked out.
this property addresses all the necessary parameters i.e. location, comfort, staff, facilities and services. gr8 experience
Good price, very clean. Great staff, very friendly and helpful Small room for 4 adults.
Clean, great location, helpful staff, would highly recommend if you're just staying a few nights. We found this problem everywhere so it's probably just a personal preference, what's with USA and no kettles only coffee machines? I just want a cuppa after an lond touristy day.
Location One of us was literally in a basement room with no windows. My room was so small I could barely move.
No cafe or restaurant or breakfast only on property
Kenneth at the front desk was exceptional - friendly and professional. The rooms were comfortable and suitable for a short stay in Manhattan. I thought the beds were comfortable, and the shades in the room fully blocked the view of other buildings. No vending machine meant we had to go to the 24 hour deli next door - there were men sitting in the deli and I felt uncomfortable with them watching me while I made a purchase.
staff attitude and promptness lack of towels unacceptable
I love the character and history of this show. I film like I am in a film noir movie with its library, the spiral staircase and the classic, old NY feel of the rooms. The only complaint I had was the staff. The first time I stayed, they greeted me with such a welcoming warmth and interest in me as an individual. It was lovely! This time, they had a rude woman working the front desk who was so cold--no smile, no eye contact, just the most basic robotic responses. Please Mansfield Hotel, you have such class, such character! Hire people who treat people with respect and friendliness! Because of her, I may be looking to stay elsewhere in the city next time. The rude, robotic woman at the front desk. Please find someone who is friendly, interested. It's a boutique hotel. It is charming and the service should reflect that charm!
Location in the middle of everything. Friendly staff and nice rooms for boutique hotel. Free wifi in lobby only; paid wifi in rooms. Would have liked free wifi in rooms.
It was very clean Room was very small and the bed was small as well
The location was perfect, our room very pretty
The staff were helpful and very friendly, especially the bellman and the reception staff The hotel was very clean. The rooms and public areas were also excellently furnished. The bathroom was very small - It was not possible to sit on the toilet and close the door in room 803! also the bathroom floor was higher than the room, resulting in a cut foot on the first night
no free wifi
NOTHING Double room was smaller than anything they've seen before. It was only one tiny bed [I even called them explaining they are sister and brother] and I believe it was a twin or maximum a queen- my brother was taller than the size of the bed-unacceptable. My closet is bigger than that bathroom and the building is remodeling so it looked terrible and they so bugs on the shower-real gross. I payed the price of a 4 star hotel in Times Square and they told me they've been in more comfy hostels in Europe. Staff was not accommodating at all and since my family does not speak English very well they did not offer to change to a decent room (for the price I payed). I feel so bad for them and I feel scammed by this. Ridiculous.
nothing the room was disgusting: small, dirty, not comfortable at all !!!
Helpfullness of front desk staff and central location of hotel
It was a rather horrible experience. The room was small and dirty and nothing like what was advertised. The furniture was broken and it was facing a wall. The room next to mine had several people in it who were partying late into the night and even though I called the reception they refused to do anything about it. So there was shouting and music until after 2am. Probably one of the worst hotel i stayed at in a long time.
great value, wonderful cozy old world flavor. Library with espresso machine and fireplace, beautiful marble staircases Unbelievable lack of attention to detail. This hotel could be soooo much better if they simply cared about details. The gym has had 3 of the 4 cardio equipment broken for over 6 months! The hallway carpets are worn, the paint is scuffed, gym towels usually absent, gym t.v. broken... I would happily pay 10% more at this hotel for better TLC. Sadly, it seems they are content to compete on price alone, in spite of having a gem of a property. Poor management, in my opinion.
