Size of the room and the views on the lagoon from its terrace. Also the large bathroom. The staaf was very helpfull and kind. We intended to do the climb towards the hotel after having had eveningdinner at the Knysna waterfront but that turned out to be too difficult.
Great staff. Good breakfast. Would like to have full DSTV service in room. Nice view.
Very friendly staff, exellent value for money.
Excellent services and fantastic vue, 4+++ stars!!
Fabulous views of Knysna, especially from second floor room. Bedroom was huge with the biggest and most comfortable double bed I've ever slept in!
Cleanliness of room and bathroom. Good breakfast. Good hospitality. The room was not an en-suite.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were advised on all the various activities we could do in the area and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We stayed in one of the more expensive rooms which had a fabulous view over the bay. The room was very comfortable, clean, spacious and the breakfast was delicious. We could not fault it and we would most definitely recommend it to anyone! No, absolutely not.
Beautiful location and close to Kynsna Centre. Good recommendations for local restaurants.
very warm welcome, assistance & local advice from hostess & host excellent breakfast some areas ready for redecoration/refurbishment eg bathroom
welcoming, efficient and well worth the money. Lovely home feeling. brilliant service
We were greeted personally by the owners and made extremely welcome. We were given information about our location and provided with a very good street map. We were also given good information on places to eat and interesting excursions. The owners were always available, in our all too short stay (2 nights). We have no complaints whatsoever and would reccommend to anyone. No complaints. Re question below I did not actually read the guest reviews. I tend to follow my own instincts.
It was superb in every respect. The owners were gracious and helped with dinner choices and directions. A great place.
Perfect location and very warm hosts
very helpful on eating out and booking activites no
Conveniently situated on the edge of town. Free WiFi, comfortable and well-appointed room. Excellent breakfast.
everything. free up grade. no
My fiance and I had a fantastic stay at the Hide-Away Guest House during our recent visit to Knysna. The hosts, Cecil and Colleen, were very kind and always happy to help with good advice on what to do or where to eat as they are very knowledgeable of the area. Our room was very nice and comfortable, and the view of the Knysna lagoon was spectacular and very enjoyable over afternoon tea or breakfast, which was served al fresco on the veranda. The breakfast was delicious, with abundant selection. In short, we would go back as soon as we can and can highly recommend the Hide-Away Guest House to anyone. If I had to point out something we didn't like, it would be the wifi--it was spotty and we kept being kicked off the network. Not a big deal if you are on vacation, though, and it worked just fine for email. Also, keep in mind that Hide-Away is not right in the center of town (this is a plus), so getting to the Waterfront is about a 10-15 minute walk, which you may or may not feel comfortable doing late at night. We walked most of the time during the day and evening and felt perfectly safe, but we did take a cab after dinner when it was getting late.
The staff where very helpful and friendly, there was a great choice of breakfast and the cooked breakfast was delicious. We stayed with our 3 teenages and the family unit was completely adequate.
the standard of fittings etc and the accommodation in general was of top quality No
good breakfast Room had balcony with view of estuary Difficult access to room with very unsafe landing at top of the stairs
The staff were friendly, the accomodation was luxurious and the views were superb. I will definitely be back! No, everything was accessible, clean and the hospitality was great.
The staff were very friendly and wanted to please the guests so that they enjoyed their stay. Everything about the hotel was first class. (A+) Could not be faulted
The view of the lagoon from our balcony was superb. The food at breakfast was also excellent. Too far from the waterfront, town centre/not within easy walking distance of local sights.
Loved every second I was there. The view is spectacular, the staff members are fantastic and the room was awesome!! A truly special place!!
silence. Not many people arround. No bumping into cleaners. Own free time. Friendly staff.
We liked the spacious family room. The surroundings were peaceful. Although our room did not have a lagoon view (we knew this) we could still enjoy the views while walking around.
Everything was good quality
very accommodating, very friendly, helpful staff. great breakfast. very personal service.
The ambiance, location and owner/staff made it a very enjoyable stay
Intimacy The bath wasn't big enough:-/
We only stayed here for one night, but wish it was longer! Beautiful setting and very comfortable. Owners and staff very helpful and informative. Lovely breakfast too!
Great hospitality from owners and staff, great food, room with underfloor heating, minibar, satilite tv, jacuzzi/Pool and so resonable
Luxury, staff location comfort, staff were efficient & friendly. good training of staff was evident. we were upgraded to a luxury suit Nothing
Service; stunning location; colonial style. Proximity to the main road causing occasional noise intrusion to an otherwise tranquil spot.
Friendly and efficient staff large light rooms beautifully maintained gardens Nitpicking but food not quite up to overall standard
I thought the position was nice. There wasn't a lot to do nearby and the hotel lacked atmosphere probably because it was a bit empty The bar should have been attended A bell would have been good to call one of the many staff who were around but not doing much. You should do a deal with dinner included then people may stay in for dinner. Similarly if you put the fire on in the public rooms it would attract the guests for dinner
Food was very good.
We loved gowns and slippers! the heated carpets, very hot gas fire place. our room had everything u can think of. 2 tv's was luxury. beautiful views. suprisingly good, cheap red wine. breakfast fit for a king! ground master was very polite even though i forgot to replace flag at no 1. I got a birbie at no 9! and a couple of pars. The duck is very tasty, i will miss it. the massage was nice, but i couldnt stand the heat in hot tub, got a palpitation! altogether excellent weekend. we used GPS and ended up driving through squatter camp and gravel road on our arrival, probably not your fault.
Glof & food Hotel guests are not allowed to swim in the spa, very disappointed
The views as always were stunning and the dinners at the restaurant were superb, a must do.
The views from the hotel grounds and restaurant were outstanding. The spa was perfect too. Room was a little cramped.
We enjoyed the facilities of the hotel and travelled to the local areas around Knysna no
Good quality and close to the Garden Route. The views. The breakfast. The golf course looks superb. Maybe it was the season, but it was a bit lonely there. The bar menu is good, but a bit limited. My room was a bit small, with no access to a terrace or balcony.
Golf course is exceptional. Spa is also very good. Restaurant food was excellent. The 'B' rooms are very small but fine for a night or two. The 'A' rooms are however very good but more expensive. Just make sure you know what you are booking.
Golf course, view from the room, Spa, Friendly Staff. Not enough hangers in closet. Not replenishing water every day!
The view was great, breakfast was very nice and the service was great. We had a nice time at Augusta Bay.
The staff were freindly, we were extremely comfortable and felt welcome.
Location, view, friendly great staff, good breakfast, good parking, OK restaurant nearby, just a great guest house. Nothing
staff were friendly, the view splendid. Could update their TV's to flat screens. We had a very small, old TV in our room. Breakfast was lovely but the same every day.
everthing was was perfect, the rooms and views were excellent and monica couldn't do enough for us,i would recommend it to anyone.
We absolutely loved the unique and luxurious room, and the fabulous view of the lagoon from our massive window. Nice touches included the complimentary sherry in the room, topped up every day. Finally our hosts were very friendly with lots of helpful advice on places to visit. We loved it all, and would return!
The stay at Candlewood Lodge will be unforgetable! We were welcomed by our hosts and felt at home immediately. Everything was excellent and the warm atmosphere was outstanding - I would recommend a stay at Candlewood Lodge to all I know!
Great Location, the owners Joyce & Graham were very helpful and charming people We loved everything about the Lodge
This is the most wonderful place - everything is fantastic about it - the owners cannot do enough for you and the accommodation is beautifully furnished - we loved it
Graham and Joyce were excellent hosts and made us feel extremely welcome offering advice on local amenities, activities and recommended some excellent restaurants in the area. The accommodation was of a very high standard, had excellent facilities and fantastic views of the lagoon. All in all we had a fantastic few days in Knysna. No fridge in the room was the only down side.
luxury rooms, spotlessly clean good breakfasts, easy parking felt restricted in using pool and facilities when they were entertaining their own friends
the hosts could not have been more helpful, welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. The accomodation was perfect for our family of four and breakfast was a very pleasant occasion. Highly recommended.
Beautiful guest house all finished to the highest standard. Joyce and Graham couldn't have done more for us and made our stay very enjoyable
The managing / owner couple were extremely hospitable and helpful. All other staff were always very friendly and discreet. A great place for some peace and quiet and friendly smiles.
Spacious and very clean apartment, close to town, a good base for sightseeing the garden route.
Great hosts and friendly staff. The guesthouse catered to mostly international guests. Made excellent recommendations for local restaurants and tours. Great view from our balcony over the Knysna heads. The staff also ensured my son was taken care of in a special way. Pool toy and pool towels were set out when we arrived so we enjoyed a quick swim. They made him feel very special and welcome. In a quiet residential area and you had to have a car to go anywhere. Our room also had some problems with shower drainage for some reason. However, this did not affect our stay negatively.
The staff were all excellent - we were even offered a lift down to the waterfront. They are willing to do anything to help and the rooms ere spacious and tastefully designed. No complaints. I would certainly recommend!
Very professional and personal service from the owner: he even anticipated our needs and truly helped us whenever needed. This is great guesthouse with a 5 stars service, we were like in a five star hotel !!! Thanks again Lloyd for our great stay in Knysna. I would definitely recommend this place if you want peace, comfort and luxurious ambiance at a very affordable price !
The only thing wAs we couldn't get wireless to work. Right now Lloyd is in the middle of switching Internet carriers...no big deal.
Friendliness of host and staff, the breakfast was excellent, the rooms were spotless, feeling of warmness and openess with the host and staff
We arrived late in the day and were tired after a long drive, and the owner offered to drive us around and show us different parts of the town. It was a very nice gesture.
Excellent place to stay. Secure, gated parking. Close to town centre. Tasty breakfast.Wifi free internet access was much appreciated.
Self catering unit was a small apartment, well furnished with full kitchen, very nice. Nice pool area. Owners were very friendly and eager to make recommendations about things to see and do in the area. Guesthouse is about a 5 minute drive to shops and restaurants. Would definitely recommend staying at this guest house. Nothing.
The entire impression of the Hotel was excellent with the inside passages giving one the feel of being on a cruise liner and the rooms with balconies being more like junior suites.Staff made one feel special in all interactions and with the "small touches" like truffles left in the room each night after turn-down service, we were reluctant to leave. Whilst the location is very central / convenient and only a short walk to the Water Front Development, the immediately surrounding area is not great. This will presumably change over time as the area becomes rejuvenated.
The furnishings and fittings in the room - exotic!
The staff were friendly and the hotel was beautiful, the room was lovely comfortable and clean. I would recommend to others and definately stay there again. The food was great too No
The room and the front desk service was excellent. The breakfast buffet was awful and the waiters clueless.
The best part of our stay was the manager's decision to upgrade our room without us even mentioning it. They gave us an amazing room with a huge balcony and spectacular view of the waterfront! We loved the modern design of the room - it was one of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed at (and we are frequent international travelers).
The overall impression we got from staying at The Rex was extremely positive. The rooms were very comfortable and had a wonderful feeling about them. The decor, fixtures and fittings are top of the line and so tastefully presented. None
The rooms were extremely spacious and excellently decorated.
Rooms very modern and spacious with attention to detail. Excellent value for money - will definitely stay there again.
the rooms and the staff were superb, would defenitely recommend this hotel to family and friends.
The luxury room setting and the atmosphere around the hotel itself The breakfast buffet was not great. I think they need to improve breakfast choice.
The Afrikana lived up to it's description very accurately. Service was attentive but in no way obtrusive. The owners, Rossano and Bianca have created an exceptionally stylish and comfortable guest environment. Not applicable
The hosts Ross and Bianca were fantastic.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel: beautiful accomodations, including common areas, very hospitable inn-keepers on the premises (we felt like special guests), and superb breakfast included in rate. We enthusiastically recommend this lodging.
Cleanlyness, friendlyness and it was up market
The standard of the accomadation was very high and the view from the room overlooking Knysna Heads was incredible. We only wished we could have stayed there longer.
Bianca and Rossano were fantastic hosts and we felt so at home in their beautiful hotel. We loved our time there. They went out of their way to help us from calling and booking reservations and appointments for us to suggesting restaurants and hotels in our next location. We were there in winter and it was a bit chilly in the rooms, but that was to be expected and we were provided with space heaters and heated blankets, so it wasn't uncomfortable. That's really it. Very minor as everything really was fabulous.
Lovely B+B with fabulous views of the Heads in Knysna. The hosts are very accommodating and make you feel at home. Very clean. All in all a lovely place to stay. It is like a Boutique Hotel. Sound proofing not too good. Could hear person in the room next to us.
We enjoyed the hospitality and the extremely high standards
The views were amazing. Staff very friendly. The bath towels were on the small size and no heated floors in bathroom. Rather over priced.
everything. very pleasant and professional
