Pretty rooms and the chance of good faciliies. The staff invited us for a breakfast one day wich was really surprising as it is an all inclusive hotel. They took 3 hours from our life to sell a Melia Group vacation right for only 175.000USD. does not worth it??? We had to call every day for cleaning of our room. In these quite expensive rooms we had to wait 5-10 minutes for warm water. Otherwise everything was cool...
Some of the staff tries to do their best but they are poorly trained, hotel is understaffed, inconsistent with services provided from one day to the next, ie cleaning rooms. Maybe a 3* hotel, not more!! Bar service was poor (except Serapio) and premium alcohol was hidden for those who have a right to it and one had to constantly ask for premium alcohol to be used in drinks - answer was sometimes "I don't have any". Food was mediocre and there was no variety. The beach bar was not open, restaurants were open arbitrarily when they felt like it (not every night), meals were not served as we were told - no breakfast at all at the restaurant by the beach. My companion got food poisoning on our last day - the manager (Diana) refused to take responsibility for this and had an attitude. Additionally, the sister hotels were not accessible to us (renovation??) and the VIP beds were occupied by people who should not be using them. Dissapointing
Good seaside view. Nice big beautiful room (I had platinum suite). About 10 different tipes of fresh juices for the breakfast. The room was full of mosquitos! Was impossible to sleep. The food at the restaurant was really too salt. Some of the items were impossible to eat.
staff, location the food was horrible
all inclusive and food is excellent difficult to get to from Santo Domingo airport
Excellent staff..beautifully maintained the food could have been of a higher quality
The poll are a was lovely and very relaxing. Good variety in the restaurants although food was often not as hot as it could have been. Overall, I would say this was a four star not five star hotel.
Food was actually incredible; it was almost the highlight of the trip! Staff was superbly friendly, and all the decor of the lounge areas and restaurants was splendidly top-notch. Will definitely be returning on my next trip to the DR! That I had to leave! =]
The entire resort was amazing, hard for me to explain how beautiful this resort is. Very clean and well kept. The staff was very nice and professional. Definitely a great place to go if you want to relax and just get away. This was my first time in Punta Cana, and I will return to this resort again before year end. The free Wi-Fi outside the room was a plus, you had signal everywhere. The food was better than I expected, there are a lot of restaurants (Options) to choose from. The best part is that you can eat at the sister resort as well, not reservations needed for any of them. Best vacation so far to the Dominican Republic. The water pressure in the room was low later in the day (but I understand, being Dominican myself, that they try to conserve water). And I had some issues with the Wi-Fi signal in my room, outside worked great.
everything was perfect the staff happy people very friendly one of the best trips very , very good everything
Relaxing on the beach, loads of different restaurants, Casino & Pool and Beach Bars. The sunbeds by the pool were always reserved even although there was a sign stating that you cannot reserve any beds. The majority of people staying at this hotel are Spanish. For English speaking people wanting to meet lots of new people I would not recommend.
Very nice pools, sizeable clean rooms, friendly staff, pretty grounds. Tried to charge more than we booked for; problem getting adjoining rooms; seaweed-filled ocean; mediocre food and slow waitstaff, zero entertainment on the Royal side. A bit dull.
When we arrived they had no reservation for us. They claimed we were booked at the catalonia bavaro not the royal. Our friends that booked with us had a room waiting. I showed them my receipt that clearly stated catalonia royal bavaro. We waited and waited for hours until we were given a room, only to have to move to three rooms until we had a room that the air conditioner worked. Now it's 2am and we are tired. We came to celebrate our anniversary and mentioned it to the front desk when we checked in. I also sent an email to the hotel. We also brought 2 other couples with us to celebrate. Nobody cares. The food was horrible. The pool was chipping paint. Tiles at the pool were broken. The personal service was terrible. We travel around the world and this was the worst I have seen. I can keep going but what's the point!
Very good hotel for its price. Delicious all-inclusive meal at plenty of restaraunts.Nice pools, beach is not over-crouded. Staff is friendly, but sometime it takes time to get understanding of what you really want :) 1) Only one car rental in the hotel (Prestige rent-a-car) with not good service (the longest and complicated procedure of getting car rented I ever had!). Although prices are a little bit lower then Europcar and Avis in Bavaro. 2) Stupid system of 200$ limit when you want to pay by charging the room. 3) Very shallow ocean on the beach.
Everybody knows at least english except espaniola. I'm Russian and it's very important for me. nothing
Liked staff friendliness and comfort of the resort. The food was not as good as we expected and the service can be at times very slow. Room service not consistent in providing towels.
everything is nearby . local is new. room service is not good . and towels too old. 0ne day they only give our one towels for 4 peoples.
ovation horrible internet service would not return there because of it a lot of good with no taste
Upon arrival, the staff was helpful, polite and always willing to help. Our room was very clean and maintained every day. We had a jacuzzi on our balcony with a great view of the beach. Food was good, a little repetitive , but you can always find something that you liked. Overall an amazing stay... We were able to use the pool at the Bavaro Beach side but they would not serve us any drinks or let eat at the buffet.
Great facilities, beautiful setting, lots of fun activities available. The food was absolutely terrible, both at the buffets and the a la carte restaurants. Most of the time the food seemed to be extremely dry, as if the food was pre-cooked and were sat under heating lamps for hours. The staff also seemed to be generally miserable, sometimes unhelpful and unfriendly. We were also left without toilet paper for an entire day, after the cleaner neglected to restock the bathroom. A lot of our calls to concierge also went unanswered or were redirected elsewhere to no avail. Also the lack of changing stations in the bathrooms throughout the resort is quite an inconvenience. We are a young couple with a nine month old infant, and having to go back to our room to change the baby is quite a task, as there is a lot of walking from the restaurants back to the rooms in the family section of the resort.
The beach was nice.
We like the facilities for little kids. Family friendly, you have to walk (but we do not mind) they have 2 trolleys that pass every 6mnts. the personal is nice, it could be nicer the one in reception but they are ok. They help me to prepare the Happy birthday of my grandmother with music and the cake, that was the extra mile :) The personal is nice, it could be nicer the one in the front desk but they are ok. I know that the hotel was full, but every customer is important. Beside the monologues of yes and no (with any additional information) everything was nice.
If I have only one critic it will be for the casino staff, only place in the resort where for some reason the staff absolutely not friendly,
Very nice seashore, palms, very calm waters in the area where the hotel is. Good food in restaurants. Although we've booked the room through booking.com 2.5 months in advance, when we came to the hotel, they did not have our reservation and tried to downgrade us to a cheaper room than what we booked. It took 2 hours and required to talk to hotel manager twice before they actually let us checkin into the room we booked.
Despite the problems with the room, the staff was very helpful. They had to switch my room twice. The first room smell like a smoking room . The second room had a real strong smell of mold. After going back and forth for 3 hours I finally got a nice room. The hotel was too far from the city of Punta Cana
I liked that the VIP section had their own private pool and members didn't have to make reservations. The food wasn't too good and got a few of us really sick.
the staff the rooms
Location was great Rooms were okay, we had to wait beyond check in when arriving, then there was no towels, we went to the beach and they were out of towels as well. There were crazy rust stains in our bathroom. The food was not that good (Fruit was amazing!) but I couldn't expect more for the price and it was included.
Almost everything the food was great the drinks was also great the pool bar tender there are the best juan, jose and front dest carlo. It took 4 days to them to change the remote control for the tv if you want something to get done in your room they will take for ever.
We loved the overall experience of the Resort. We had golf cart transportation all over the property and all the food and alcohol you could consume. Also for the guests of the Royal Suites we had access to top shelf liquor and swim up suites. The things that we did struggle with was the taste of the food and we also felt like the Resort was catering to the American way of eating instead of giving us the foods of the Dominican Culture. I also will say that when is comes to the rooms they are in need of new furniture you can see the wear and tear on them.
The Lobby and Restaurants are very pleasant. The food is O.K. but not exceptional. The staff is very nice. Even though I have certain complaints below, I would still recommend if you are in a tight budget as the rooms were clean and in a general pleasant stay. It was impossible to get a hold of them prior to my stay for a clarification even though I tried on many occasions via phone & email. We also requested via booking.com that all 4 rooms be located together and they had us all spread out in different buildings I assume because they were separate bookings. I had to wait over an hour at check in before they came up with something a bit more acceptable. Primarily I think because one of the rooms was for my 87 yr old mother and they had her clear across the other side of the hotel. There were other minor inconveniences. There was also constant loud music in the pool area with a rowdy crowd. Not sure if this was an exceptional weekend or they cater to a rowdy crowd.
surroundings were loving, cascading water sounds, very nice walk to reception was long, wifi did not work in villa
Tidy room, hospitable staff, good bar and lounge, nice entertainment, tidy rooms. Very good restaurant with superb selection of meals. The beach was very shallow.
The room was very nice, the beach too, food - good, prise - excellent! Never give them your clouthes washig and pressing for! And ask the room far away from the evening activitis playses - impossible to sleep :)
Very nice gardens, very testy meal, the value for money is exelent! Attencion!!!! Never give them your clouthes for washing and pressing - they spoiled my wife's two evening dresses! Make reservation throug the booking.com the local price is higer for 25%
A really excellent hotel, the buffets were lovely, the staff were friendly and helpful and the resort is right on the beach. There was nothing not to like about this resort. I would definitely return. Some of the amenities in the room were beginning to look in a state of disrepair.
There was so much to do that I couldn't do it all in my trip! The food was really good and there were many places to eat. The staff was very nice and helpful. I spoke some Spanish and I think that made a huge difference. I was there alone and the staff adopted me like I was part of their family always making sure I was having fun and had what I needed. The room was beautiful. I met someone from Spain who had been coming to this hotel 7 years in a row after trying other hotels. I would love to do the same! There is a lot of seaweed on the beach. But they have a truck that comes by to clean it a few times a day. It wasn't something that would ruin my trip.
Loved the staff, they were all so friendly. The variety of food was very good too. We loved the cleanliness of the beach, we were in the "Privaleged" area, but I feel if we didnt go with the honeymoon suite it may have been a different story. Cleanliness of the room was disappointing, and they never cleaned at the same time. One of the buffet places was terrible, there was always bugs flying around the food. We had a leak in our ceiling at midnight one night, and ended up having about 50 gallons of water that had to be let out in our bathroom so we had to move everything out & we didnt get compensated for any of that. It was frustrating.
Complete heaven after spending 3 days in Santo-Domingo. Staff is friendly and non-intrusive. Almost everything is already in the price, including cocktails. We heard from others that sometimes valuable things like mobile phones get missing. Hotel provides safe in the room, use it and then you will not have to worry.
The staff was very sympatic. The food was great with a lot of choice. The room was nice. The show in the evening was boring
The room was clean and had a nice decoration. Comfort bed and spacious room. The food quality was very good and good variety as well. The Steak restaurant was great. The staff was very nice and helpful but very relaxed, they were not harassing you. We felt very relaxed. The surroundings of the hotel are very nice with lots of birds singing and fishes... Very natural and relaxing. Check inn and check out were very easy. The beach is full of algae as all of the other beaches in the area due to the problem of El Niño. Very sad as this area is known for its beautiful beaches. But this is not a something the hotel can control. It is a general problem. I talked with a service manager from Cap Cana and he told me they have the same problem there for almost a year now. What I did not liked from Catalonia was a terrible odor that comes from the water they use for sprinklers on the green areas and gardens. I don't know what kind of water they use but is smells awful.
We loved the entertainment team, the service was amazing. Everyone was respectful and they made us feel at home. The shows they had every night were amazing, and very professional. There wasn't wifi everywhere, and the wifi in the lobby wasn't great. It limits is from contacting our family outside of the resort.
The beach was wonderful, they have 5 different restaurants (Mexican, Italian, Brasilian, Dominican), very friendly people, the room and decoration was beautiful The food in the main restaurant is terrible. The bathroom was a bit rusty.
Hotel is fully consistent its price.Hotel rooms (especially bathrooms) need to be repaired. The beach is quite good, quite clean, sun beds and towels are enough. Animation at the hotel mainly for adults and focuses more on the Russian tourists, those are too much now in the hotel. The restaurant is open at almost all times. Also, the beach has a snack bar for 24 hours. In my opinion the hotel is not suitable for families with young children, it is more for adults. Also recommend to take a safe at reception. Better to take a room for 2 or 3 rd floor.
We had a wonderfull vacation. The hotel was what i expected.Great!!!
Nice beach. Too many russians. Really appalling selection of meals for dinner. Insects in the room roaches and ants. Awful smell of some kind of swamp in the room. Yet very friendly personnel. Too many Russians. Really appalling selection of meals for dinner. Insects in the room roaches and ants. Awful smell of some kind of swamp in the room.
Amazing resort, but hands down the The staff definitely made this experience amazing! Super accommodating, eager to go above & beyond. Took my boyfriend for his birthday & he felt like a king. Jose Minaya was helpful the entire trip, he showed us around, was our personal driver & on the last day he even surprised us with a bottle of wine. On my boyfriends actual birthday while we were at dinner, the maids came in & decorated our room with rose petals, balloons, & set up the jacuzzi with bubbles with champagne waiting! Beautiful surprise. Out by the pool, we met Domingo, who was so friendly & escorted us to a personal bed by the water. He brought us drinks & even offered to bring us food. The property itself is beautiful & the experience was great, but hands down the staff went above & beyond! Very grateful Need More vegetarian food options at dinner
good food, nice environment, watersports included although we didn't know it was included until the day before we left.. they didn't inform us of these activities included..and additionally the watersport kiosk is located in a non visible area Air conditioning was not working for the first 2 days of our stay in any of the rooms, however after we decided to move to another hotel because it was too hot to sleep, we got a massage session for free, some fruits and a late checkout. Reservation for the specialty restaurants was full for the rest of the week and weekend even that we got to the hotel on Wednesday..
The pool! I didn't like the room is was dirty! It has pests like roaches little lizards! The AC barley worked! And the Hot Water sucked! They had little ants on the bedside boards! I will never go to this place again! and the FOOD was horrible!
The price. But there wasnt enough to justify how much I paid. So it was a bad value. Dreams Punta Cana was a much better resort. I did not like the sometimes undercooked/raw food. Otherwise the food was never better than ok. I did not like the customer service and at times the staff was unprofessional. The first room we were given had a broken shower. The second room we went to had poor quality features. Low water pressure. Barely enough hot water. Uncomfortable bed. Seaweed covered beach. Had to pay for wifi. No real bar. Dreams punta cana resort is 20 minutes north is 50% more expensive, but 200% better quality. Dont go here. Its not worth it. If you do go youll see why.
Food Room old and dirty
Excellent staff other than the workers at the check-in/checkout counter. The Concierge was outstanding. $5.00 per day, per item wifi charge at a so called 4 star resort! Really? The check in/checkout personnel were neither pleasant nor helpful. Air conditioning did not work properly.
All staff members seemed to genuinely enjoy their job and made us feel welcomed. One of The on premises stores held a 40% off sale for one hour that caused massive overcrowding of shoppers. Would've been better to either assign sale time based on lodging building or have the sale all day. Way too claustrophobic and dangerous.
Clean, well appointed rooms. The pool is beautiful. We had no issues with any food or drinks. There are lots of activities on site to take part in, if you want to. Staff will do anything to help make your stay memorable Entertainment team wasn't as good as I would have expected. This was ok as I don't like to be harassed by them. However, an acknowledgement or a bit of enthusiasm wouldn't kill them.
What I liked best was how they accommodated our family of 18 all in one building that was great. Somw of the staff also made us feel special like a waiter in seaside grill restaurant. if you ever go there ask for super he is amazing. my bathroom in room 3123 kept leaking water from the ceiling. The cleaning lady always had an attitude even though we were polite. when my family and I went to a pizza shop next the beach we were treated unfairly by a employee
Friendly staff, great food and drinks. Hotel employee made our morning everyday with friendly singing and dancing. Hotel employee is a key fixture to Dreams Punta Cana!
The beach area. Being pushed to take a tour of one of their other Hotels.
Food was good. Upgraded the rooms. Nice pool as well. Only bad experience was with the security guard who found it difficult to believe Canadians and Dominicans could be friends, and was hostile when we all returned together to the hotel. Completely classless and hopefully fired....
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
We liked the wine offered at the resort. The hotel staff was rude and uninterested in any of our needs. The hotel was overbooked when we arrived and they moved us to a new hotel. You have to pay for wifi.
The restaurant experiences are great. Gratuity was supposed to be included yet bartenders had tip jars staff accepted gratuity and made it feel expected. Went to hear resort pitch for rci that was supposed to take 1.5hrs but took 3hrs instead for a very restrictive spa cercertificate
The staff and service over all is amazing! You want for nothing. If you feel you are missing something, just say the word and it will be at your fingertips. Everyone is super friendly and all too willing to help. Only down side I would say is that they need a touch more of authentic Dominican flare. Some more traditional food options, entertainment and music would've made the experience greater!
Very good restaurants and bars Excellent service from employees Nice facilities The beach was surrounded with algae which doesn't make comfortable using the beach, but you have nice swimming pools Guests usually reserves beach chairs very soon in the morning, so it's difficult to get one
Location is beautiful. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. A lot of activities to do for different ages.t Toilet was not working and took 3 days to fix it
The resort was clean all around. The staff were all very likable and I enjoyed talking to them. The room was (7220) was clean and spacious. It took me a night to get adjusted to the firmness of the king size bed. Television (32'') was small for the size of the room. A few issues with the room. The frosted glass door did not fully enclose the bath area. This allowed odors, noise and stem to travel outside of the bath area. Missing the door stop for the glass bathroom door. The exhaust vent in the bathroom was partially painted over with visible dirt buildup. Pools were clean and the beach and pool chairs were plentiful during peak times. Service was prompt and courteous. Some nightly entertainment was provided. The food in the buffet dining room did not appeal to me. Other than a family dinner the first night, I did not eat there for dinner again. Breakfast was not much better. I just made do with what they had. Plenty to choose, but the quality of food did not suit me.
The elevator was broken and they said it had been for almost 2 months, the jacuzzi button was broken, mini bar was never refilled unless we called.
GREAT BEACH AND DRINKS BAD FOOD, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, THE HAVE TO CHANGE ALL THE EMPLOYEEES,
Nice rooms and a great beach. The food was mediocre at best. This was disappointing.
Spa service was exceptional. Bars have a good selection of drinks, and the bartenders were friendly. The staff in general was very friendly and helpful. Bag delivery and delivery service could take a long time.
Pro: Very quiet, relaxing. Good food. Con: Beach had heavy seaweed
Beautiful, romantic electrical didn't work in our room in many outlets
Beautiful setting, great facility, cheerful and friendly staff who go above an beyond to make you feel welcomed and attend to your every need. They also were very sweet to our 4 y/o daughter. Food was decent and multiple restaurant options offer variety. The public beach just next to the resort is also beautiful and worth the short walk/golf cart ride (the hotel staff will give you a lift). Despite requests from the resort to not "reserve" chairs at the beach and pool, particularly selfish guests would put towels down on the well shaded chairs by the pool and beach before heading to breakfast. Often they would finally show up hours later. Many guests didn't bother to remove their wet towels when they left their chairs so it was difficult to tell which chairs were taken and open.
Most of the staff was great, particularly bar staff including Martin at the Love Bar. The room was nice and accurately reflected "ocean view." The pools were quite pleasant including the main pool with swim up bar. Food was very mediocre. More entertainment is needed as well if to compete with resorts in the other islands and even US resorts. They should have more air conditioning in their bars, lobby, typically sweat in these area from lack of it. Even in the restaurants the temperature could have been cooler.
The Service Beautiful Resort
The place is great, staff are nice. What i did not like about this hotel and the only reason why i wouldn't recommend it to other tourists is that everybody there seems to be on a permanent quest to squeeze out every little penny out of you. They charge a ridiculous amount of tax on everything (accomodation, meals) of 26%. Other hotels charge nothing or maximum 16%. They make you pay for the water in the room. Breakfast is included but it is not what a 5 star resort breakfast should be like, it's maybe a 4star hotel breakfast and i'm being overindulgent. Whatever you do, the staff look at you with $ signs in their eyes, it's what they've been trained to do. It is a 5 star resort but it lacks the touch. If they could, they'd even charge tourists for flushing the toilet.
