A pleasant place to stay and the owners/staff were attentive and helpful. Good location near the seaside and major local shopping locations. International type foods are hard to come by on foot. It was a good place to stay for our purposes which were to get a taste of local culture, scenery, market life and a general jumping off point to other locations in the country which we did.
Authentic Moroccan style house in old city, beautiful design, interesting area, close to sites of interest.
nice and clean riad in center of medina
A perfect place make the city more atractive. Very beautiful Dar with nice and respectable people! not fantastic but, ok breakfast.
The staff was very nice and trying to make us at ease.Breakfast was excellent. The owners are french so you can have wine for diner which is hard to find inside the medina. The riad is not that easy to find inside the medina so you have to ask around when you arrive;poeple know about the ryad
The rooms are absolutely beautiful! This is a great hotel destination for a couple wanting a romantic getaway. It is also a 5 minutes walk to the old Medina. The caretaker of the hotel does a wonderful job and prepares fabulous breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. Communication however is the most difficult aspect as she speaks very little French and no Spanish or English.
We enjoyed a fantastic stay at Dar Mayssane. The rooms where beautiful, the atmosphere was romantic and relaxed and the staff were very helpful. It is truly worth considering a stay, if you are looking for a nice Ryad. We stayed in several Ryads during our trip to Morocco, and this one was the loveliest. Just consider that it is a Ryad, so do not expect huge rooms, English speaking staff, or (often gross) buffets, as with "normal" hotels. Finally the breakfast was excellent, and we had dinner there once, which was pricey (considering local prices), but the very best we have tasted in Morocco!
The hotel staff was friendly. The food was good. The rooms were clean and very nice Everything was good
Beautiful Riad!!! Very nice decoration and welcome home atmosphere!! Very kind and attentive to the guests staff (I suppose owners...). We stayed in amazing room on the 1th floor - huge, cosy, just so nice!! Bed is actually was very comfortable, cosy and clean! Nice ant tasty breakfast. We'd stay in the Riad next time with great pleasure if come again to Rabat and recommend it 2 all of or our friend!! This Riad gave us a very nice memories of staing in! Thank you very much for this!! Location is very good as well - very easy 2 find with the map from the site, in Medina - near by mainest sights, just 10-15 min walk from Railways Station! Everything was just perfect! Just one - toilet located just in the bedroom behind a curtain... Interesting but definitely not comfortable at all!! And no possible 2 have a drink in the riad's bar by glass but by bottle it's quite expensive (20 Euro - a bottle of ordinary white wine)...
Everything. It was a wonderful surprise ,because it was our first stay in riad. Nothing, really great.
I liked the warmth of the hospitality & the attention to detail. The staff were really friendly & helped to make our two night stay very special. Nothing bad to say about the riad.
Very warm reception, domestic and comfortable atmosphere. Remarkable personnel which does everything for the receipt of maximal comfort of the guests. Romantic enough place, especially breakfasts on a terrace. Located not far from basic historical and cultural places and railhead. Very colourful interior and district on the whole.
Beautifully restored traditional house within the Medina. Wonderful hosts. Could not have been more helpful.
This was one of our favourite riads during a 5 night trip through Morocco. Easy to find, on the edge of the medina, very friendly and warm welcome. We loved our cosy room (La Confidente room) and the roof top terrace is terrific. Given a map and overview of the area, and provided us with a beer and bottle of wine for relaxing on the rooftop and watching the sun go down. Fantastic breakfast too. High recommended. Nothing that we didn't like!
Amazing relaxing place. The breakfast in the morning was memorable: tasty jam, fruit salad, home-made crepes, fresh orange juice... Just a bit expensive compared to the average prices of the city. But still ok for an european costumer.
The front desk staff was extremely helpful and knowledgable. The restaurant was superb! I would have liked an exercise room with modern areobis equipment. You should restrict smoking in the hotel lobby.
The free internet connection Breakfast was expensive and below standards for this kind of hotel.
Spacious, clean and quiet room. Fast wire-line internet, helpful staff. Everything is good.
Comfortable modern business hotel; cable tv in several languages inc french, english and italian; reliable free internet; good bar area; walking distance to all major tourist sites.
Mainly, I liked the location, the bathroom with its modern design and facilities, and the furniture compared with the price. I did not like the fact that they immediately withdrew the amount of stay from my credit card (after booking through booking.com) and the fact that it is not refundable. Also, I did not like the idea of the “open bar” to the reception. Also, I did not like the fact that the staffs were somehow “nosey” and I noticed that the longer you stay, the worse their treatment gets with you especially at the restaurant by breakfast time.
Good location, clean. Desk people were a bit cold but all other staff were helpful. Food was good but not great.
The stay was fabulous. lovely prepared meals. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. The tranquility of the hotel was amazing, just been inside the garden/swimming area was a holiday in itself . great hotel indeed. The only thing on the website under services its written that there is an Airport Shuttle. On arriving to the hotel asked if they had an Airport Shuttle they said no, we would have to order a taxi which they would do. So that was an extra expense that we did not plan for. To me that is not an Airport shuttle but taxi service that I could get at any Hotel.
Quick room service but often not exactly what we asked for I had to ask them to clean the room, the 2nd day it wasn't done, when I asked why they hadn't done it the first day they said because the no entry was on the door handle, it was until 12midday afterwards it was 'make up my room' following my complaint when I returned to the room a 2nd day when it hadn't been cleaned at 3pm they came and cleaned a little but didn't hoover the carpet
It was in the center, the lobby was large and nice. THe rooms were big and the bed was comfortable. The alarm on my door made a rattling sound all through the first night, I couldn't sleep at all. I told this to the reception; they said they would call a technician but they didn't. The next evening again I insisted and they called the technician at 12 o'clock at night. They didn't apologize for the inconvenience, they didn't offer any reductions. They didn't change my room. Only after the second day, when my husband couldn't enter the room somehow, they changed the room.
Its location The price/quality relation is very poor. Also, they have an associated Car hire business which misquoted prices, and then when I said I was going to pay with Credit Card said to me that i would then have to pay 20% additional. The way this company wanted to give me the car hiring contract was also not very transparent. A Hotel should only recommend serious companies.
the room was booked through the site, however when i arrived there was no reservation, lucky that they had a room available.
Wifi price and validity period
the shower and tv were broken
It was comfortable and convenient and we met there the group with whom we were going to be traveling -- all of whom, by the way, did not have as pleasant an experience with the Hotel as we did.
Close to local market and attractions Room was not that clean. In couple of times the towels were missing from the bathroom! Had to call room service. I left my silver chain in the room, e-mailed to ask to give to my colleague who was still there….still waiting for the response
Room was clean - restaurants and bars were good but a bit over priced, but food very good Not a lot of ammenities considering it's supposed to be a 5 star hotel. Lost electricity in my room for a few hours also before it was fixed. WOuld recommend but only as somewhere basic to stay
Second time I travel to Rabat and I stay in this hotel for business. First time stayed in junior suite (very large and confortable) second time in standard room at 4th floor. The hotel is good if you are using it only to sleep and to work. Few minutes walking from downtown (theatre, post office, station area) with lot of restaurants and shops. Few minutes walking from Rabat Medina. It has no swimming pool, no sauna, no gymn. If you are travelling for business and your wife is with you she will hav anything but the room and large hall to stay!
Interior design is great. It's a nightmare to find it.
The hotel was very clean, the service was very helpful, attractive decor and the location was excellent. Very relaxing over-all
the peacefull feeling of the hotel you can hear everything very well inside the hotel
Warm welcome and attentive service
intimate, freindly, colourful, inspiring, attentive, comfortable, and a really great breakfast on a lovely roof terrace
Locatrion, pleasant reception, food snacks in the rooms. We were booked for 2 nights originally, but flight schedules caused us to change to one night. Please correct your info. Having stayed in upscale Riads in Marrakech and Fez, Dar El Kebira was a let down. The ambiance is antiquated and while I like that and it makes it cozy, it could have been more elegant. The owners, managers, and staff were most accommodating. A guest should be made aware that a "duplex" room means that a double bed could be ina tigh space on a second level accessed only by step tiled steps, so those with navigation problems should be steered away from this room (Orange). There should be more amenities in the bathroom-hairdryer, better quality soaps, shampoos, and towels. We stayed in the Organge Room and only one bath towel was provided which we didn't notice until it was too late to request another our first night.
The Riad is well located, close to the Kasbah and within the medina. I stayed there for one night on a whistle-stop tour of Rabat. Location is great - accessible on foot from the entrance to the Kasbah des Oudayas, and very close to the action in the middle of the Medina - although far enough away to be quiet enough to sleep. I didn't have any trouble with noise. The place itself looks gorgeous inside - a real oasis of calm - especially when you get up to the roof terrace for breakfast. I took dinner there in the evening - which again, I couldn't fault. Overall - a gem of a place. If you're trying to find it, there are signs up around the media; or if you have a GPS, the location is N34 01.693 W6 50.156
Wonderful location and remarkably interesting building. No
The manager Ms Amina, she was of a great help and great person to meet. Very freindly staff and an amazing feeling while your in the hotel.
Good location, english speakinf and excellent customer service Specious and beutiful but not very practical bath room
Breathtakingly beautiful riad. The staff were all helpful, accomodating and delightful, the food wonderful and it was a magical stay. I highly recommend it to anyone staying in Rabat. If you stay there, be sure to have dinner one night in the courtyard. Nothing to dislike. A lovely and peaceful riad.
Very confortable, the service was top class, The food is also excellent
The ambiance, the food, you can get a beer and good wine too :) The service in the restaurant was a little relaxed, but I think this is an African thing
Gorgeous Riad, stunning dinner on the terrace, luxurious suite. Excellent location if you plan to visit the medina, kasbah, and the souks.
The Rias is incredible, the best in all Morocco, we recomended to stay there
The authentic atmoshere and interior design is absolutely beautiful. It is a little gem in the middle of a maze of narrow streets and walkways. Although I could not speak French, the manageress and staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and I managed just fine. I would have preferred a more substantial breakfast.
The room was elegant and the air con. was excellent - no noise. The pool area was a treat to relax and we were given a bowl of fruit to help our hunger. I did not think that the breakfast serving staff had any idea of what was required. On our second day the breakfast was not served for 15 minutes. Apart from this the staff were very helpful but often missing. I booked the hotel 7 months in advance for 4 nights for my sons wedding only to be told the week before that the room was double booked and we were offered an alternative for 2 nights in a completely different location. This was not good and I was told that the staff did not co-ordinate the bookings. This caused disruption on day 3 which lost us time, especially when we arrived at Riad Kalla, the room was not even ready.
Friendly, great food, great service, beautiful rooms and riad. Helpful staff. No
It is a beautiful riad, definitely one of the very best we stayed in Morocco. The looks of the place are amazing: pretty, clean and "automaticly relaxing". Staff was very friendly and helpful, not pushy by any means. Great location. I would definitely recommend this hotel to any of my friends! Just loved it! Also, dinner was reasonable price (a bit more expensive than outside, but surely good and worth of staying in). It would be nicer if staff would speak some more english, but this is a common "problem" in morocco... And yes, lack of shower curtains is fun, but again - same as everywhere else in morocco.
Staff, decoration, swimming pool Air conditioning was not working
1-There is no T.V in the rooms 2-The Picher in the site is bigger than realty 3-Win I want to cancel the booking to move on to another hotel because of the location is in the medial of the markets , they said you I have to bay for the 3 days witch I booked already in advanced but am not satisfied with hotel .
Stunning renovation of two old mansions into a lovely Riad in the heart of the Marrakech medina. Great breakfasts and attentive service. No wifi was available in the room, probably due to the thick concrete construction. Wifi in the public areas was questionable at best.
Friendly people, helped us to find it from the parking lot (which can be difficult, the Riad is in the Medina) Riad published to accepted CC, but it didnt. I only found out at check out, and was suggested to go to the bank (on the other side of the Medina); not what you wish for on that moment...
The family-run inn and staff was wonderful and we did, as had been suggested by others, have the home-cooked Moroccan meal, which was very good. We found out after we scrambled to get more Dirhams that we could pay the bill in Euros in cash, which would have been nice to know. Make sure that when you are in the downtown areas that you go to the ATM for money, as there is nothing close to the Medina area to get cash. Before you get into a pettit taxi, make sure they know where the hotel is, because our driver said he knew, but dropped us at the wrong area of the medina, and it was quite a maze to get through from the wrong entry point. This is not a complaint about the hotel, but we found it more difficult to get around including directions to the hotel than in other areas of Europe, as almost no one spoke either Spanish or English, not even a little. Brush up on your French. Many people in the medina spoke only arabic.
the location is not bed, but in the medina. The room was so dirty and so small for the price. No reduction on the price even in low season, personal rude (they don't came to say goodbye when we left the hotel, but just the waiter was there). Avoid this hotel!
good location, friendly owners, traditional style
The helpful, friendly staff. The authentic decor.
The room was excellent concerning the view of the city, the river and the sea. Self cooking facility was sufficient. I wanted to be guided to my room sooner.
Nothing. I had booked only one night via booking.com and additional 5 nights agreed only by mail with the owner. I was in shock at the situation of the place and wanted to leave the next morning. He held me hostage and threatened me and kept insisting I pay for the whole stay eventhough there was nothing legally binding. Until I got local support he settled for 2 nights and let me go. If I were not in Arab country I would be able to sue him for detaining me and holding me hostage. No matter what it is illegal to trap someone behind locked doors!!!! He is a fraud, and his place is nothing like a hotel, I was totally tricked with the message from booking.com and will never use this site again for booking my hotel stays. There were no locks to the room neither inside the room for luggage. The bar lock was from outside as well as inside so someone can lock you in the room. The rooms are exposed to each other. Dirty. Old. Uncomfortable. Not sercure. You have no privacy. It's like one big house with 5 rooms open to each other. A cracky wooden door seperating the rooms. The owner is a aggressive and hostile, I was a victim of harrasement (detained). In all cases, no hotel worldwide ever makes you pay for the rest of your reservation. As long as you iform them of your next day check out before noon you get charged for the duration of your stay only.
the location is good, possible to get on foot to the center. The staff was very friendly, Stephen gave us useful information about Rabat, what to see and where to dine. Thank you. Atmosphere is excellent, real orient, authentic Morocco.
Very good view from the terrace, Old city (medina) around, Interior is very nice in arabic thematic. Don't even consider taking this room on the terrace - it's smelly, noisy and dirty. Rooms on first floor should be okay.
We were staying 1 night on our way to Fes; so did not linger in the Riad nor in Rabat. The room was on the roof terrace so very light and bright. Room was good, bathroom the same, breakfast a feast. Internal courtyard smaller than others, but still a haven from the bustling outside. No.
I loved the room decoration though it was open to the pathio but it was magical for me (not to my friend), they welcome you with moroccan tea and sweets, I strongly recommend it to who ever like such old houses and decorations I only wished if they could have switched on the ac before we arrived because it was so hot in the train from Casablanca to Rabat, and by the time we arrived we were doomed
Away from turistic areas. Decoration very nice! Payment by cash, no credit card!! No good views from terrace. Not as good as it looks on the website! Just a 3 star hotel.
The hotel is very nice, and the staff very kind. They have kept the house with its "original" design and decoration which makes it different from the other hotels. Although not being a responsability of the hotel, the odors coming from the garbage acumulated during the weekend in its vicinity was very unpleasant.
Rooms are spacious and the hotel is quite easy to reach. Really good breakfast and there is the chance to dine in at night First of all there is a tremendous smell of rubbish, it was not possible to open windows because of that smell, and it was really terrible every time we got out of our room. It is really strange that almost nobody mentioned it in other reviews since the hotel is sitting just in front of a rubbish deposit, visible from the terrace. When leaving, Stephane, the owner asked us to pay cash and when proposed to pay with Credit card he replied that we might go to a nearby bank to withdraw local currency. I would expect all hotels on Booking.com to accept credit cards
